Ogun Set For 20th Coronation Anniversary Of Ebumawe Of  Ago-Iwoye

Exactly twenty years ago, amidst promises of fairness and justice, Oba AbdulRasaq Adenugba ascended the throne as the Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye. 

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that in a remarkable journey marked by steadfast commitment, Oba Adenugba has not only upheld his promises but has also garnered immense love and respect from his people.

To commemorate this milestone and the profound developments witnessed under his reign, the sons and daughters of Ago Iwoye are jubilantly preparing a series of activities to honor their beloved monarch and celebrate the progress of their community.

Dr. Oluomo ‘Femi Bakre, the Chairman of the 20th coronation anniversary planning committee, highlighted the core purpose of the celebration – to express gratitude to the Almighty for His blessings over the years and to acknowledge the remarkable progress and upliftment of Ago Iwoye under Oba Adenugba’s reign.

He said “it is my great pleasure to welcome you all to this press briefing in commemoration of the 20th Coronation Anniversary of our distinguished Royal Father, HRH Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, Ebumawe of Ago-lwoye.

“Twenty years after, the Kabiyesi, with the Grace of God and support of the people of Ago-lwoye, has continued to

enjoy a peaceful reign which has culminated in the progress and unprecedented development of the town.

“Oba Adenugba’s visionary leadership has brought unprecedented transformation and phenomenal growth to the town of Ago-lwoye since he ascended the throne both economically, socially, culturally, spiritually, physically amongst others.

“There is also cordial relationship between the town and the two universities located in the town (Olabisi Onabanjo University Community and Aletheia University Community)”.

Addressing the newsmen  at Ebumawe’s palace, Oluomo emphasized the unprecedented growth in commerce and commercial activities within the town, attributing this boom to the visionary leadership of Oba Adenugba. 

He cited the establishment of various businesses including quarry sites, private schools, filling stations, and five-star hotels as evidence of Ago Iwoye’s burgeoning economic landscape.

The chairman underscored the conducive business environment fostered by Oba Adenugba, which has led to the establishment of government agencies in the town and the upgrading of the Ago-Iwoye market to a daily market.

In addition to economic advancements, Oluomo highlighted the revival of social institutions such as the Rotary Club of Ago-Iwoye and Age Group Associations, which have played pivotal roles in enhancing social cohesion and communal development.

“In Ago Iwoye of today, we have witnessed businesses which included the Quarry Sites, Private Schools, Filling Stations, Five Star Hotels, Event & Recreational Centers, establishment of government agencies in the town such as; Prison Services Farms, Federal Road Safety Corps Divisional Office, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Divisional Office.

“Under Oba Adenugba’s reign, the Ago-lwoye five days market was upgraded to daily market. Rotary Club of Ago-lwoye was established and the Age Group Associations (Regberegbes) were resuscitated to boost social activities and foster the spirit of unity and communal development in the town.

“There is an improvement in commerce and commercial activities which has led to socio-economic development of the town.

“This event is a way of thanking Almighty God for His divine direction and mercy over our Kabiyesi in the task of ruling Ago-lwoye, as well as appreciating the people of the town, friends and well-wishers for their immeasurable support. Oba Adenugba has deemed if fit to roll out”.

The chairman announced the conferment of chieftaincy titles on deserving individuals as part of the anniversary celebrations, symbolizing recognition and appreciation for their contributions to the community.

Anticipation for the event is palpable, with notable dignitaries from across the country preparing to join in the festivities and share in the joy of this momentous occasion with the Kabiyesi and the people of Ago Iwoye.
