The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps have scored a significant victory against criminal impersonation with the arrest of Sanni Alhaji Ayuba, a man masquerading as an army officer.

The imposter was taken into custody for exploiting fake military identification cards and insignia in an attempt to liberate suspected cult members apprehended by the authorities.

The breakthrough in nabbing the fraudulent army officer was revealed in an official press release emanating from the Office of the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo.

This information was made public through the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

According to the statement, the state commander strongly condemned the impersonation, which he decried as an act aimed at sullying the reputation of the military.

The impersonator, Sanni Alhaji Ayuba, interfered forcibly when officers attached to the Directorate of Operation of the Corps sought to apprehend suspected cult members in Adigbe, Opako, situated in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The team, led by ACC Adesina Adedamola, was successfully making headway in the operation, managing to detain two of the suspected cult members.

However, the intervention of Sanni Alhaji Ayuba, wielding a counterfeit military identity card, obstructed the officers’ lawful duty and led to the escape of the suspects while still in handcuffs.

Expressing their dismay, the Corps’ officers pursued the matter with professionalism, ultimately apprehending the faux military man, Sanni Alhaji Ayuba.

Two other accomplices, claiming to be “Naval Officers,” managed to flee the scene. The investigation subsequently unearthed that the main suspect had been masquerading as a “military officer.”

The possessions confiscated from the suspect provide incriminating evidence, including an army camouflage scarf, a fabricated army ID card, a jack knife, an itel phone, three ATM cards, a WASSCE ID card, a dog chain with armed pendants, a wristwatch, glasses, and an earpiece.

The successful operation culminated in the transfer of the suspected impersonator and the collected evidence to the Nigeria Police Force, Criminal Intelligence, Investigation Department (CIID), State Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Further investigation and potential prosecution await as the legal process unfolds.
