In a distressing incident reminiscent of recent events in Kebbi State, residents in Ondo took to looting a truck carrying essential food items on Monday.
The attack occurred at the cultural center area along Ondo road in Akure, the state capital.
According to reports gathered by Our Heritage Reporters, the truck, which was en route from Ondo town to the state capital, experienced mechanical issues at the precise location where it fell prey to the attack.
Eyewitnesses recounted that among the attackers were motorcycle riders (Okada riders) and other locals who swiftly seized the opportunity upon learning about the truck’s cargo of foodstuffs and other provisions.
The items, stored in cartons bearing the image of President Bola Tinubu, were swiftly looted from the incapacitated truck.
Upon reaching the scene of the incident, remnants of the looting spree were evident, with empty cartons and scattered grains of rice and gari strewn across the roadside and the main Ondo road.
The truck, meanwhile, had been removed from the site, leaving behind a scene of disarray and deprivation.
