No fewer than 11,000 job seekers have applied for less than 100 vacancies announced by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, barely three days after the portal opened.
The Commission, headed by Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, confirmed the overwhelming interest on Thursday, citing high unemployment and the agency’s growing reputation for integrity as key drivers of the surge in applications.
Rimingado disclosed to SolaceBase that as of 6:30pm on Thursday, about 10,757 individuals had registered via the Commission’s official portal. “By 10:00pm, the figure had surpassed 11,000,” he said.
The application process, which began on April 7, is scheduled to close at midnight on Sunday, April 13. Only applicants who are indigenes of Kano State are eligible.
“We decided to make the process entirely online through the Commission’s official portal to ensure integrity, fairness, and transparency. This way, everyone has an equal opportunity,” Rimingado stated.
To qualify, applicants must possess a valid National Identity Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), and be between the ages of 25 and 30 by April 30, 2025.
Candidates are also required to be physically, mentally, and psychologically fit, and must not have any criminal record.
The job categories include Assistant Investigator (GL 06) for OND and ND holders, Investigator (GL 07) for those with NCE or Advanced Diploma, and Superintendent II for applicants with HND or Bachelor’s degrees. Graduate applicants must present their NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Minimum academic qualifications range from SSCE/NECO/GCE with five credits including English and Mathematics to higher national diplomas and degrees in relevant fields.
Applicants must also be proficient in Microsoft Office, with additional data tool skills considered an advantage.
Rimingado assured that only qualified candidates would be shortlisted and that none would be shortchanged in the recruitment process.
The Commission’s announcement comes amid Nigeria’s escalating youth unemployment crisis, underscoring the fierce competition for limited public sector opportunities.
