In a landmark event at the Gateway International Stadium Sagamu, Ogun State, over 2300 Corps Members were officially inducted into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch A Stream One.
The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, expressed his commitment to providing the necessary ambience for a peaceful and rewarding service year for the Corps Members.
Represented by the Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Sport Development, Hon Wasiu Isiaka, Governor Abiodun assured the Corps Members that Ogun State is characterized by hospitable and caring people.
He urged them to embrace their postings across various communities and make Ogun State their home.
“I enjoin you to make Ogun State your home by not rejecting your posting to any part of Ogun State.
“ I give you my words that your entire service year and even beyond will be a very memorable one in Ogun State,” Governor Abiodun affirmed.
Commending the NYSC Ogun State Coordinator, Mrs. Olayinka Diana Nasamu, for her excellent performance in past orientations, the Governor encouraged Corps Participants to cooperate with the management of the Scheme and other collaborating agencies for a seamless orientation process.
Mrs. Nasamu, in her introductory address, disclosed that a total of 2339 Prospective Corps Members had registered, including 496 males and 819 females for Ogun and 409 males and 615 females for Lagos, ready to be sworn in.
The high points of the induction ceremony included the administration of the national pledge and NYSC Oath of Allegiance by the Chief Judge of Ogun State, represented by Hon. Justice T.A Okunsokan.
Additionally, the Constitution of Camp Court and the decoration of three Corps Camp Directors by the State Coordinator added significance to the event.
As Ogun State welcomes these Corps Members, the government’s pledge of support sets a positive tone for their service year, emphasizing the importance of community integration and a rewarding experience throughout their stay in the state.
