    Pa Jimi Solanke’s Demise, A Loss To  Arts World, Says Amosun

    Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has expressed deep sorrow following the demise of the revered Pa Jimi Solanke, a master storyteller, veteran actor, legendary poet, and folk singer. 

    PLATFORM TIMES had exclusively broken the news of Pa Solanke’s  passing away on Monday, 5 February, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving an indelible void in the hearts of admirers across the nation.

    Senator Amosun, known for his passion for the arts, paid homage to Pa Solanke as an illustrious indigene of Ipara-Remo, Ogun State.

     In a statement  issued from Senator Amosun Media Office and signed by Bola Adeyemi,the former Governor highlighted Pa Solanke’s monumental contributions to the growth of the arts industry.

    He  emphasised the pride he brought not only to Ogun State but also to Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

    He said Pa Jimi Solanke’s artistic brilliance spanned a myriad of disciplines, from drama and music to poetry, ensuring that his legacy remains eternally vibrant. 

    Senator Amosun acknowledged the unparalleled joy Pa Solanke’s art brought to homes and families, as well as his role as an influential teacher who mentored generations of students achieving excellence globally.

    Amosun added that as an icon of Yoruba culture, Pa Solanke’s influence transcended artistic realms, embodying the very essence of his heritage. 

    The 80s were marked by his resounding presence on Nigerian airwaves, with captivating storytelling and iconic roles in movies such as ‘Kongi’s Harvest,’ ‘Sango,’ and ‘Shadow Parties,’ etching his name into the annals of cinematic history.

    PLATFORM TIMES gathered  through  his  condolence message, Senator Amosun reached out to Pa Solanke’s widow, children, grandchildren, and the entire Solanke family. 

    He urged them to find solace in the fulfilled life Pa Jimi Solanke led and the enduring legacies he left behind.

    In a solemn prayer, Senator Amosun beseeched Almighty God to grant eternal rest to the departed maestro and to provide the Solanke family with the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
