Passengers Stranded As Air Peace Flight Suffers Multiple Delays At Abuja Airport

Scores of passengers traveling from Abuja to Lagos on Friday were left stranded at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport following repeated delays and a lack of communication from Air Peace, one of Nigeria’s leading domestic airlines.

The flight, initially scheduled to depart Abuja at 7:30pm, was first rescheduled to 8:10pm and subsequently to 9:30pm.

However, after the second rescheduling, passengers said the airline went silent, with no staff on ground to provide updates or explanations.

By 12:23 am on Saturday, frustration had peaked as angry passengers staged a protest at the terminal, demanding answers and accountability from the airline.

One of the affected passengers, who spoke to PLATFORM TIMES, described the ordeal as frustrating and disrespectful.

“This is Abuja Airport where we were waiting to board Air Peace airline that was scheduled for 7:30pm.

“It was later rescheduled to 8:10pm, and again to 9:30pm. After that, we heard nothing from them,” the passenger said.

Another traveller recounted arriving at the airport around 7:40pm, only to meet earlier passengers who had been waiting since morning.

“Those travelers who were supposed to board a 10am flight were only airlifted around 8:pm. That’s how bad it was,” he lamented.

Of particular concern was a stranded passenger who reportedly had an international connection out of Lagos by 2am.

“This man has an international flight to catch, and he’s still stuck here in Abuja without any information,” another passenger told PLATFORM TIMES.

Attempts to get a response from Air Peace representatives at the airport proved abortive as staff were reportedly unavailable or unresponsive during the incident.

As of press time, Air Peace had yet to issue any official statement addressing the delays or the grievances of the affected passengers.

The incident adds to growing concerns over the reliability and customer service of domestic airlines in Nigeria, particularly amid increased demand for air travel and mounting passenger complaints.
