Daud Olatunji

Renowned cleric, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has defended the Muslim community against stereotypes, criticized economic inflation, and called for prayer amidst Nigeria’s challenges.

Adeboye displayed this gesture while deliverinh  a sermon at the monthly Holy Ghost service in Mowe, Ogun State.

In his address, Adeboye addressed misconceptions surrounding Muslims, stating, “The fact that the leaders of Boko Haram are Muslims or claimed to be Muslims does not mean every Muslim is a terrorist.”

He challenged prejudices and highlighted the diversity within religious groups, urging people to avoid generalizations.

Expressing concern over economic policies, Adeboye raised questions about inflation rates under the Bola Tinubu administration, suggesting that the current trends may not be natural.

He lamented the impact of rising fuel prices and electricity tariffs on everyday Nigerians, emphasizing the need for prayer and divine intervention in the face of economic hardships.

Despite facing criticism for his remarks in the past, Adeboye remained resolute, reminding his audience of the humility required in serving God.

“Anyone that God will use must be weak, foolish, and a nobody, so that only God will take the glory,” he asserted.

Adeboye’s sermon also touched on the theme of accountability within religious communities, acknowledging the possibility of individuals straying from their faith.

However, he emphasized the importance of redemption and cautioned against judgment, citing biblical examples of human fallibility.

In light of the country’s challenges, Adeboye called for continued prayer and faith, urging Nigerians not to lose hope.

“I heard a prophet had prophesied that things would only get better towards the end of 2025,” he shared, encouraging believers to remain steadfast in their faith.
