A physically challenged and a resident of Ogun State, Omoyayi Abiodun Sheriff, has penned an open letter to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun accusing him of neglecting the needs of the disabled community in the state.
The aggrieved resident who claimed to have represented People Living With Disability (PWD) in the State said the economic situation is threatening their marriages.
He said the economic situation has led to crash of many marriages of his colleagues, declaring that they are hungry.
Sheriff in his scathing assessment of the governor’s five-year tenure, also accused the Governor of failing to deliver on promises of infrastructural development.
Describing Governor Abiodun’s leadership as “completely dummicious in nature,” Sheriff highlights the perceived absence of tangible progress in key areas and criticises the administration’s assertion of being silent achievers.
According to Sheriff, the lack of communication and visibility from the governor’s office has created an environment ripe for misinformation and rumours to thrive, exacerbating discontent among residents.
Comparisons are drawn to the previous administration led by Senator Ibikunle Amosun, which Sheriff lauds for its transformative projects that significantly impacted the state’s development.
Sheriff contends that unlike Amosun’s visible projects, Governor Abiodun’s initiatives have failed to make a tangible impact on the state’s economic prosperity.
A significant portion of Sheriff’s letter is dedicated to the plight of the disabled community, highlighting their dire living conditions amidst an economic downturn.
He appeals to Governor Abiodun to implement life-saving palliative and food support interventions to alleviate their suffering, emphasising the need for inclusivity and support for all disabled individuals, regardless of affiliations.
The Letter Read ”my Assessment On Five Years Of Prince Dapo Abiodun, ( gcfr), Executive Governor of Ogun state can be described as a completely dummicious in nature, because his presence were only felt in some sections of our dear state.
“His government always say, they are silent achiever but when the silent is too silent, it gives room for mis- information and rumours to strive.
“The age we are require any government at any level to be more communicative and have their ears on the ground. No concrete and viable infrastructural projects in the state in the last five years that can to economic prosperity.
“Unlike the previous government led by Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who rebuilt Ogun state indeed everybody felt the transformation including the baby in the womb. Till today Amosun’s projects are visible to eyes and have also put our dear state in the world map.
“Your Excellency sir, you need to be visible and talk to your people in our local media channels here in the state, not in Lagos state.
“I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to Mr. Governor to help people with disability in this horrendous time in terms palliative and food support intervention program that can help to salvage their situation.
“There’s urgent need to revive agricultural sector in the state, OGADEP used to be a one in town agency in terms of making available necessary seeds at reduced price for farmer in order to aid food efficiency.
“We need a government that will be alive for all indigene of the state who voted you in as a Governor, don’t be a sectional leader.”
The open letter read “Dear Prince Dapo Abiodun,
Executive Governor,
Ogun State.
EBI NPA WA OOO!!!
Sir,
I am writing with deep cut within my soul on behalf of all People Living Disability ( PWD ), resident in our dear state, Ogun state.
Your Excellency, I want to assume you are not aware about our unpalatable living conditions especially in this horrendous economic situation, where even the able ones hardly feed their families one square meal per day, talk less of remotic nature of our predicaments.
Our stomach is empty, we can’t afford food commodities, their prices are too astronomical. The married ones among us are experiencing marriage crash everyday simply because they can’t perform their expected responsibility, which is leading to huge number of demise among our people.
Omo Oba Dapo, Baba Awa Akanda, we need a life-saving palliative and food support intervention that will ease our burdens. This intervention program should be made available to all people living with disability, not a section of the state controlled disability group, PLEASE!
May God Almighty grant you Solomon-like wisdom to make our dear state, Ogun state Haven of Nigeria.
Omo Ogun, Ise-ya!
Igbega Ipinle Ogun, ti gbogbo wa ni!
Best Regards Sir,
OMOYAYI ABIODUN SHERIFF
On behalf of People Living With Disability
