    In a momentous announcement, the Appointment and Promotion Committee (A&PC) of Obafemi Awolowo University declared on February 27, 2024, the elevation of Dauda Taofik Oyedele to the distinguished position of Professor of Biometrics, effective since October 1st, 2021. 

    This career apex not only signifies a remarkable achievement for Professor Dauda but also resonates as a call to advance knowledge and contribute further to the realms of Biometrics and data science.

    Professor Dauda’s academic trajectory, extending from agricultural (Forestry) to natural Science (Statistics), has been instrumental in enhancing his prowess in Biometrics, fueled by a profound understanding of field experimentation.

     His research portfolio is a testament to his expertise, delving into spatial statistics, experimental design, data analysis, and information systems creation. 

    With over sixty publications to his credit, spanning both local and international journals, Professor Dauda has solidified his position as a scholarly authority in the field.

    Noteworthy accolades include an impressive 230 citation index and a Hi index of 9, reflecting the academic acclaim garnered through his tireless dedication to research.

     The conferral of the Professorial chair underscores Obafemi Awolowo University’s commitment to recognizing excellence and experience within its academic community.

    Beyond the honorific title, this promotion serves as a catalyst for Professor Dauda’s continued dedication.

     With a background enriched by exposures in Post-Doctoral research and Sabbatical positions, he is poised to assume the roles associated with the prestigious position.

     His mentorship, anticipated to be a source of inspiration, is set to impact academics and researchers within the university community positively. 

    Adding to this, Professor Dauda’s regular data analysis workshops exemplify his commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning.

    Hailing from Igboora in the Ibarapa Central Local Government of Oyo State, Professor Dauda’s over two-decade-long association with the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Obafemi Awolowo University, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, showcases a lifelong dedication to academic pursuits. 

    His journey from Igboora to the pinnacle of academia stands as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring scholars, marking a legacy of scholarly achievement and commitment to advancing knowledge in Biometrics and beyond.
