    Pioneer Chairman of Ogun FIBAN, Ashamu Akinrinde,Passes Away

    In a somber announcement, the Acting chairman of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ogun state chapter, Comrade Aderoju Adejare, has announced  the passing of  the pioneer chairman of the Association in the state, Chief Ashamu Akinrinde. 

    Akinrinde, who served as the pioneer chairman of the Association in the state from 1999 to 2005, breathed his last in the early hours of Monday, February 12, 2024, following a brief illness.

    He  was survived by wife and children.

    Comrade Adejare, in a statement issued on Monday, obtained by PLATFORM TIMES,described Chief Akinrinde as a dedicated member and a commendable leader.

    He emphasized  the significant loss his demise represents to the Broadcast industry in Ogun state and the entire nation.

    He however disclosed that the  late icon’s final burial is scheduled to take place on Friday, February 16, 2024, at his residence on Enitan Street Behind MFM Obantoko Abeokuta, Ogun state, starting at 10:00 am. 

    Comrade Adejare urged all members of the Association to attend and pay their respects to the departed leader.

    Chief Akinrinde, known for his role as the anchor of the popular radio programme ‘OLEKU ON OGBC,’ which garnered millions of listeners, was a prominent figure in the broadcast community.

     Prior to his passing, he continued to host ‘IGBADUNLOBADE’ every Tuesday on Sweet FM 107.1 Abeokuta and ‘SAN LAARIN’ on Family FM 88.5 Abeokuta.

     His legacy as a skilled broadcaster and influential leader will be remembered by many in the industry.
