    Police arrest three house owners for beating 2 welders to death in Edo

    The Edo State Police Command has arrested three persons in connection with the killing of two welders in Benin City.

    DAILY POST reports that the two welders were allegedly killed by the suspects who mistook them for armed robbers.

    The arrested suspects are Frank Abolo, 37, Samson Odewole, 22, and Happy Ohiowere, 25.

    The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu who confirmed the incident said the three suspects have been charged to court for murder.




    According to him, the Command is aware of the incident where two young boys unfortunately met their unfortunate situation.

    “The Command has commenced an investigation in that regard and immediately arrested three suspects, while two other suspects are at large.

    “Those arrested have since been charged to court for prosecution”, he said.

    DAILY POST gathered that the two welders lynched by the suspects are Osamudiamen Ehigie and Nosa Aghimie.

    They were reportedly beaten to death in Benin City by a mob who mistook them for armed robbers in Amagba community in Benin in Oredo Local Government Area of the State.

    The deceased were said to be returning from a project site in Amagba around 6pm when they ran into gunmen who had just robbed in the area.

    It was also gathered that the gunmen gave the duo a hot pursuit and in the ensuing confusion, Osamudiamen and Nosa reportedly ran into a house in the vicinity and hid themselves.

    It was further gathered that residents in the neighbourhood who mistook them for robbers apprehended them and beat them to death.

    DAILY POST further gathered that the police’s preliminary investigation exonerated the deceased from the said crime.

    The owner of the site where they went to work was also said to have vouched for their innocence.
