In a recent statement, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has clarified that those involved in cult killings in Sagamu have no ties to educational institutions or political parties.

This announcement comes in the wake of the arrest of Damilare Bello, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Sagamu 1 Constituency, in connection with the recent cult-related violence in Sagamu.

The recurring cult clashes in Sagamu have led to a blame game between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Commissioner Alamutu addressed the issue during a radio program on OGBC 2, Abeokuta, stating, “We have devised various ways to stem the tide.

Unfortunately, it re-erupted last week in Sagamu. I want to admit that this set of vicious and depraved persons are neither students nor partisans.”

He went on to emphasize that normalcy has been restored in Sagamu and expressed the intention to establish a structure that would keep cultists at bay for years, while also deterring other youths from joining their ranks.

Additionally, Alamutu revealed that the police command is collaborating with the judiciary to expedite cultism-related cases, recognizing the severity of the challenge it poses to society.
