Police Uncover Baby Factory, Rescue 10 Victims, Arrest 3 Operators

In a dramatic operation, the Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a clandestine baby factory in the heart of Ijegun, Lagos, leading to the rescue of 10 victims and the arrest of three suspects involved in the illicit enterprise.

The illegal facility was exposed on April 5, 2025, following a critical tip-off received by law enforcement. Speaking at a press briefing held at the state police command headquarters, Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed that swift action was taken after receiving intelligence.

“Our operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene, where they apprehended the operator of the baby factory, identified as Mariam Vincent, aged 35, alongside her accomplices Orie Ruth, 23, and Ujunwa Ifeanyi, 18,” Hundeyin stated.

During the raid, officers rescued seven adult women and three children who were being held against their will. Among the victims were Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), Amaka (26), Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2) – all of whom are now receiving necessary care and support.

The suspects, during interrogation, reportedly confessed to abducting their victims from various parts of the state with the intention of exploiting them in the baby factory operation. Hundeyin assured that investigations are ongoing, with plans to prosecute the suspects in accordance with the law.

Highlighting recent successes, Hundeyin also detailed that over the past two weeks, the command has arrested a total of 39 suspects involved in various crimes, including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child stealing, vandalism, illegal possession of firearms, illicit drugs, and the illegal operation of a baby factory.

In a related development, the command successfully rescued two victims abducted by kidnappers in Igbe Alagemo community, Ijede, Ikorodu. The operation, initiated following a distress call on March 26, 2025, culminated in the safe return of the victims on March 29, after an intensive three-day manhunt led by police operatives in collaboration with local stakeholders.

Hundeyin affirmed, “The victims, Dare and Rodiat, were reunited with their families unharmed, thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of our officers. Our surveillance continues as we work to apprehend all those responsible for these heinous acts.”
