Portable Warns Fans: Focus on Personal Success, Not Protests

Controversial Nigerian artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has sent  a strong message to his fans, advising them  against participating in the upcoming protests against economic hardship in Nigeria.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the  protests, organized by various groups, are set to take place from August 1 to 10, with the aim of addressing the rising cost of living and other economic challenges facing the nation.

In a video posted on his social media platforms on Thursday, Portable expressed his reluctance to join the demonstrations, emphasizing his satisfaction with his current success.

The singer urged his fans to focus on their personal growth and success rather than engaging in public demonstrations.

He said  “It will not end well for anyone who suggests that I should go and sing in a protest. Why don’t you take the microphone and sing at the protest yourself?”

“Fight for yourself, and not for Nigeria. Nigeria is okay. It is you that is not yet okay,” Portable stated.

He emphasized that the key to success lies in personal effort and loyalty to those who can offer help.

“The money is where it is; you are the one who is not working, and you don’t stay loyal to your helper. People that will help you are also available; you are the one who is not networking. Fight for yourself, so that your career will not turn to a barrier,” he added.

Portable’s comments come at a time when many Nigerians are struggling with economic hardships, exacerbated by inflation and unemployment.
