Prestige Newspaper, a historic and revered community news outlet based in Abeokuta, Ogun State, is set to celebrate and honour 50 distinguished Nigerians through its ambitious book project titled “Ogun State 50 Top Role Models.”

This initiative, now in its third edition, aims to highlight individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted Ogun State and beyond, regardless of their state of origin.

Mr. Dada Olanipekun, the Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Prestige Newspaper, said  that the project is designed to celebrate exemplary Nigerians, whether born inside or outside Ogun State.

He noted that the selected individuals include a diverse array of professionals, such as technocrats, administrators, politicians, and para-military personnel.

“Although those being celebrated in this edition are not entirely indigenes of Ogun State, the authors have found their contributions to the state worthy of emulation and documentation for posterity.

“These sterling qualities have made it unavoidably necessary to beam the searchlight on them, hence they are being celebrated,” Olanipekun stated.

The unveiling ceremony is slated for Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta.

The event promises to be a significant gathering of notable figures and distinguished guests, marking a moment of recognition for those who have tirelessly contributed to the state’s growth and development.

Among the celebrated individuals is Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, Nigeria’s immediate past High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, who will also serve as the special guest speaker at the event.

Additionally, the Ogun State Head of Service, Pastor Kehinde Onasanya, will grace the occasion as the special guest of honour, bringing his esteemed presence and support to the celebration.

Elder Bode Adeaga, an eminent surveyor and former president of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, will serve as the chairman of the day, lending his stature and experience to the proceedings.

The “Ogun State 50 Top Role Models” book project is more than a commemorative publication; it is a testament to the enduring legacy and impact of those who have shaped Ogun State’s socio-economic and political landscape.

The project aims to inspire future generations by documenting the achievements and contributions of these role models, ensuring their stories of dedication and service are preserved for posterity.

Prestige Newspaper’s initiative reflects its commitment to celebrating excellence and fostering a sense of pride and aspiration within the community.
