Two individuals, identified as Uthman and Ibrahim, have embraced Islam in the Amolaso area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, marking a historic moment for the Muslim community in the area.
The conversion, which took place at the Amolaso Muslim Care Centre Mosque, occurred as both men publicly bore witness to the oneness of Allah by reciting the Shahada (Islamic declaration of faith).
The event was attended by members of the mosque, religious leaders, and prominent personalities.
In his welcome address, the Chief Imam of Amolaso, Arc. Tajudeen Ademoye, described the conversions as a significant milestone, noting that this was the first time in 31 years of Dawah (Islamic evangelism) in Amolaso that the community had recorded reverts to Islam.
He said, “The reason for our convergence today is that we want to show our gratitude to Allah for being Muslim.
“ Also
, we add more of our members to Islam in the Amolaso Muslim community, and this is because, for 31 years of Dawah activities, such has never happened in Amolaso town.
“It is Allah who directed them to join Islam, and we pray that the Almighty Allah gives them the strength to continue with the faith of Allah.”
The Naibul Imam of the mosque, Alhaji Abdulrasak Sanni, encouraged the new converts to embrace unity with other Muslims and to uphold the good teachings of Islam.
He emphasized the importance of integrating into the Muslim community and living a life that reflects the values of the religion.
In his keynote address, Ustaz Semiu Hamzat, a missionary from the Islamic Youth League, urged the reverts to seek more knowledge of Islam to strengthen their faith.
He emphasized that Islam is a religion of all prophets and that conversion to Islam signifies a fresh start in life.
“No one can be a Muslim except by the mercy of Allah; it is also confirmed by Allah that all the prophets held on to one religion, which is Islam; therefore, all of them were Muslims,” Hamzat stated.
He further explained, “Islam is a religion of all prophets. It is also affirmed that whoever accepts Islam has become a newborn baby, and all the sins committed have been cleared.”
Speaking after their conversion, Uthman and Ibrahim expressed that their decision was made out of genuine love for Islam and not under duress.
Uthman disclosed that his father initially opposed his decision to embrace Islam but later reconsidered after witnessing his commitment to the faith, eventually offering his blessings.
The event was also graced by representatives of the six Ratibi mosques in the community, led by Alhaji (Imam) Waliyullah Deboye Somuyiwa, further reinforcing the significance of the occasion within the Muslim community.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the reverts, asking Allah to strengthen their faith and guide them on their new path.
