A prominent lawyer and chartered accountant, Dr. Gbenga Adeoye, has advocated passionately for preserving the legacy encapsulated in the name “Tai Solarin After the adoption of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) by the Federal Government.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the Federal Government adopted the state owned first University of Education in Nigeria.

Dr.Adeoye stated this in a statement made available to PLATFORM TIMES on Tuesday .

Reflecting on the university’s historical significance, Dr. Adeoye stressed the profound impact of former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s visionary leadership during his tenure as Governor of the State.

He highlighted Daniel’s unwavering commitment to educational excellence and human capital development, which culminated in TASUED’s foundational successes.

“Tinubu’s role in advocating for TASUED’s adoption by the federal government cannot be understated,” Dr. Adeoye remarked, emphasizing Tinubu’s pivotal contributions to education and governance.

He referenced Tinubu’s historical engagements, including significant policy initiatives such as subsidy removal and the promotion of student loans, which have left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s educational landscape.

Addressing concerns over a potential name change post-adoption, Dr. Adeoye firmly advocated retaining the name “Tai Solarin University of Education.”

He stressed that preserving the university’s original identity would honour the legacy of Tai Solarin, an iconic figure in Nigerian education renowned for his progressive ideals and commitment to youth empowerment.

Furthermore, Dr. Adeoye extended his congratulations to Daniel and the people of the State, applauding their collective efforts in nurturing TASUED into a premier institution of learning.

He urged stakeholders, including the federal government and educational bodies, to prioritize the preservation of TASUED’s heritage as a testament to Nigeria’s rich educational history.
