The Rivers State House of Assembly has called for a full investigation into allegations that the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age.
During a heated session on Thursday, the Assembly deliberated over documents presented by the House Leader, Hon. Major Jack, which suggest that Justice Amadi may have manipulated his age in official records.
Deputy Speaker, Hon. Dumle Maol, condemned the allegations, emphasizing the seriousness of the claim.
“These documents before me simply say that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service.
Mr. Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice,” he stated.
Following the discussion, the House unanimously agreed to request the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the matter and report their findings.
Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, supported the call for a thorough inquiry, noting that the documents raise questions about the integrity of the state’s top judicial officer.
“The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the honorable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi.
What it means is that there has to be an investigation to that effect,” Amaewhule asserted.
The investigation into the age falsification claims could have far-reaching implications for the judicial system in Rivers State, and the outcome will likely be keenly watched by legal and political stakeholders across the region.
