Popular saxophonist and De Naija Spirit Talent Hunt star, Sampson Udo, better known as KingSax, has been arrested for allegedly raping two sisters, Destiny and Grace Ameh, in separate incidents linked to a performance invitation.
The controversy began when 27-year-old Destiny invited the saxophonist to perform at an event at Elegushi Beach, Lagos, on October 6. According to her younger sister, Grace, Udo allegedly forced himself on Destiny in his car after the performance.
“He lured her to the backseat, locked the doors, and raped her. He covered her mouth and used his weight to overpower her,” Grace alleged.
Destiny reportedly left the scene in shock and sent a series of angry messages to Udo but refrained from filing a report immediately. It was two weeks later that she confided in Grace, who took up the matter.
Grace said, “I called him to confront him. He claimed the sex was consensual, but when I questioned him further, he dropped the call and ignored my messages. Frustrated, I took to X [formerly Twitter] to expose him.”
As the story gained traction online, Udo denied the allegations in a post on social media, stating that the claims were meant to tarnish his reputation.
“My attention has been drawn to a post on Twitter(sic) alleging that I had forceful carnal knowledge of someone. I am innocent of this accusation,” he wrote, adding that he had consulted his legal team.
The matter escalated when Grace was allegedly summoned by the Lagos State Police Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), where she claimed she faced intimidation.
“There were four male policemen interrogating me, and they mocked my sister and me. Udo and his lawyer demanded N15 million and a public apology in two national newspapers,” Grace said.
Grace alleged that after the interrogation, Udo offered to drive her and her lawyer home but later harassed and propositioned her in exchange for withdrawing the case. When she refused, she claimed Udo raped her.
“He pounced on me, ripped my gown apart, and raped me,” Grace recounted, adding that she gathered evidence and an Uber driver who witnessed part of the harassment has agreed to testify.
Udo was arrested by the SCID on Thursday and remains in custody pending court charges. Activist Serah Ibrahim disclosed that the saxophonist’s lawyer and girlfriend had been pushing for an out-of-court settlement.
The police reportedly returned N450,000 to Grace, which she had paid as part of an earlier financial demand linked to the case.
Lawyer Inibehe Effiong and other activists have since joined efforts to ensure justice for the Ameh sisters.
