In a swift response to credible threats, security agents successfully averted a potential attack on the palace of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, located in Nasarawa.

Early Wednesday morning, combined security forces were deployed to block access to the palace following intelligence reports of an imminent assault.

The security measures were prompted by a viral video circulating on Tuesday night, which alleged plans by unidentified youths to storm the Nasarawa emir’s palace and forcibly remove Emir Aminu Ado Bayero from his residence.
The video also called on supporters of the emir to gather in defense of the palace.

Upon arrival at the scene, security personnel discovered several individuals in possession of dangerous weapons.

As a precautionary measure, the area surrounding the Nasarawa emir’s palace was cordoned off, resulting in traffic diversions along the adjacent state road.

According to a statement issued by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kano Command, “Adequate security measures have been implemented to forestall any potential breakdown of law and order in the state.”

The statement further emphasized the collaborative efforts of various security agencies in deploying personnel to strategic locations within Kano Metropolis to ensure public safety.

In response to the operation, 17 suspected individuals involved in the planned disturbance were apprehended, and investigations are currently underway.

The Kano Command reiterated its commitment to holding accountable those responsible for orchestrating violence and urged the public to refrain from engaging in unlawful gatherings or activities.

“We commend the vigilance of the residents of Kano State and urge continued cooperation with security agencies to maintain peace and order,” SP Kiyawa concluded.
