Seven persons have been arrested in connection with alleged attack on two officers of Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA).

DAILY POST gathered that two officers of the agency, Oyedepo Samuel and Waheed Quadri, were allegedly assaulted by tricycle riders and hoodlums in Ibadan.

It was learnt that the duo sustained severe injuries after they were attacked with iron rods, stones, and sticks at the Water Corporation gate.

Our correspondent gathered that the officers had apprehended a commercial tricycle who parked on the road, obstructing traffic.

The officers were later ambushed by a group of tricycle riders and hoodlums.

The injured officers are currently receiving treatment at the State clinic, Secretariat, Ibadan.

OYRTMA Chairman, Adekoya Adesagba, while reacting, condemned the attack.

Adesagba in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday, disclosed that seven people have been arrested in connection with the crime.

“It is a pity that our officers, who work tirelessly to ensure sanity and orderliness on our roads, are being assaulted and harmed,” he added.
