The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has issued a strong call to organised labour to reconsider its planned nationwide strike.

The police in a press release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer,ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stressed the need to adhere to legal procedures to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

The announcement comes in response to the organized labour’s recent declaration of their intention to strike in advocacy for the interests of all workers.

The NPF acknowledged the right of organized labour to engage in strike actions but highlighted the importance of following existing laws governing such activities.

The NPF stressed that compliance with legal procedures is crucial to avoid escalating tensions and potential political instability.

The Federal Government has deemed the planned strike illegal and premature.

In light of this declaration, the NPF views the strike as a potential trigger for increased tension and disruption within the country.

The police force urged organized labour to continue participating in the ongoing discussions at the Tripartite Committee, which is currently focused on determining a new minimum wage.

The NPF believes that shelving the strike in favor of dialogue is essential to prevent untold hardships on the public and to maintain national order and stability.

To ensure public safety and order, the NPF has assured citizens that ample deployments have been made nationwide.

This measure is intended to allow individuals to carry on with their lawful daily activities without interruption.

The NPF encourages all members of the public to remain calm and to continue their routines as usual.

Organized labour is being urged to act responsibly and in accordance with the law, prioritizing dialogue and legal avenues to resolve their grievances.

The NPF’s call aims to foster a peaceful resolution to the issues at hand, underscoring the importance of stability and adherence to legal frameworks.
