In a shocking incident that highlights the dangers faced by law enforcement personnel, officers and operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’, were subjected to a brutal attack by smugglers in the Dankama Area of Katsina State.

According to an official press release issued via the agency’s Twitter handle, the Customs team, responsible for upholding government fiscal policies and protecting the nation’s economic interests, came under a violent onslaught from a group of suspected smugglers armed with dangerous weapons.

During the course of the harrowing attack, Inspector of Customs (IC) Haruna A. sustained severe injuries, necessitating the immediate transfer of the wounded officer to a medical facility. Encouragingly, reports indicate that IC Haruna A. is responding positively to medical treatment.

In response to the distressing incident, Superintendent of Customs Public Relations Officer for Comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’, Isah Sulaiman, issued a plea to traditional leaders, parents, and community figures, urging them to counsel their constituents against perpetrating violence on security personnel.

The agency warned that individuals involved in such acts would face the full legal consequences of their actions.

Expressing deep concern over the attack, Comptroller FOU ‘B’, Musa Ibrahim Jalo, vowed to ensure that the culprits behind this “barbaric act” are swiftly brought to justice.

Comptroller Jalo emphasized the resolute determination of his team to withstand any further assaults on their ranks.

He underscored that this incident would not undermine the Unit’s resolve to combat smuggling and maintain the nation’s security and economic stability.

“No further attacks on any member of the Unit will be tolerated and will be met with unwavering resistance from our operatives.

Despite such violent setbacks, our commitment to fulfilling our lawful duties remains unshaken,” stated Comptroller Jalo.

This distressing event serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies as they work tirelessly to maintain order and protect national interests.
