The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) successfully apprehended three suspects involved in the vandalism and theft of transformer cables.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the arrest took place in Idiroko, Ipokia Local Government Area, underscoring the Corps’ unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order in the state.

The operation, conducted by a patrol team led by Chief Superintendent of Corps Abdulkareem Abdulrazaq, resulted in the arrest of the suspects in the early hours of May 26, 2024.

According to a press statement from the Office of the State Commander, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, the suspects were apprehended at approximately 5:30pm.

The individuals arrested were identified as Eze Sunday, an ex-convict, Eze John Charles, and Jamilu Danjuma.

He said during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and implicated a third individual as the receiver of the stolen transformer cables.

The operation also led to the recovery of several exhibits, including burnt and separated copper wires, which were part of the stolen items.

Following the arrest, both the suspects and the recovered exhibits were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Idiroko Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and potential prosecution.

This transfer underscores the collaborative efforts between the So-Safe Corps and the Nigeria Police Force in tackling crime and ensuring justice.

Commander Ganzallo highlighted the significance of this arrest in a statement, “This arrest is a testament to the Corps’ commitment to tackling vandalism and theft in the state. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of Ogun State citizens.”

The arrest and recovery operation has been widely praised as a proactive measure in the fight against vandalism, which has been a persistent issue affecting the state’s infrastructure.

The So-Safe Corps, established to complement the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, plays a crucial role in enhancing community safety and social orientation.
