Sultan Abubakar is Hale and Hearty, Palace Debunks Death Rumours

The Sultanate Council has dismissed rumours circulating on social media about the purported death of His Eminence, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the revered Sultan of Sokoto, labelling the reports as “totally false and unfounded.”

According to the council’s Senior Counselor, Dr. Muhammadu Jabbi Kilgori, the rumours of Sultan Abubakar’s passing, which surfaced in a “breaking news” clip online, have no basis in reality.

Dr. Kilgori clarified that the Sultan was not only alive but actively engaged in his official duties.

The statement noted that on the day the false report was spread, the Sultan was seen attending a meeting of the Northern Governors Forum, alongside traditional rulers in Kaduna.

“We therefore make good to say the story was fake, totally false, and unfounded,” Dr. Kilgori stated, urging the public to disregard the misinformation.

The Sultanate Council assured that Sultan Abubakar is in good health and continues to fulfil his responsibilities as a prominent leader of the Muslim Umma, focusing on fostering religious tolerance, peace, and socio-economic development in Nigeria.

The statement concluded with a call for responsible information sharing, emphasising the potential harm such rumours can cause within the community.

The Media Team of the Sultan of Sokoto released this clarification on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, following the widespread circulation of the misleading report.
