The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has expressed his deep sorrow over the demise of the Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba (Senator) Moshood Lekan Balogun.
Describing Oba Balogun as both a colleague and a friend within the esteemed traditional institution of Nigeria, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar reflected on the impactful tenure of the late Olubadan.
He stated, “We are confident that, although short-lived, his reign on the throne was well spent for the good of his people as the Olubadan of Ibadan Land and Permanent Chairman Oyo State Traditional Rulers Council.”
Highlighting Oba Lekan Balogun’s commitment to a better and united Nigeria, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar remarked on the late monarch’s reputation as a detribalized Nigerian, emphasizing the loss felt by the nation with his passing.
“Our condolences go to the Oyo State government, the Oyo State Traditional Rulers Council, the family of the deceased Olubadan, and the entire people of the state,” Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar conveyed sympathetically.
The Sultan offered prayers for the departed soul, stating, “May Allah forgive and admit his soul in Al-Jannah Al-Firdaus, Amiin.”
