Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has broken his silence from Cotonou, Benin, where he revealed that he is now legally free to return to Nigeria after nearly two years in Benin.

Igboho expressed his readiness to come back to Nigeria and travel worldwide, stating that he has fulfilled all the necessary legal requirements attached to his bail.

The activist expressed gratitude to prominent Yoruba figures, politicians, the media, academics, and Yoruba monarchs for their critical support during his stay in Cotonou.

Notable names included President Patrice Talon of Benin Republic, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Professor Wole Soyinka, Professor Banji Akintoye, and others.

In a statement titled “My Release in Benin Republic,” Igboho thanked God and the Yoruba community worldwide for their support.

He also acknowledged the support of President Talon and several prominent figures, including religious leaders, traditional rulers, and media outlets.

Igboho emphasized the importance of unity in achieving Yoruba self-determination.

Sunday Igboho was arrested in Cotonou on July 20, 2021, and had remained there since.

He was granted bail and has now disclosed his freedom to return to Nigeria, although the exact date of his return remains undisclosed at this time.
