Take Responsibility For Wole Soyinka Railway Station, PDP Tells Abiodun

    Daud Olatunji

The Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a scathing attack on the state governor, Dapo Abiodun,  accusing his government  of evading responsibility and failing to address the deteriorating infrastructure surrounding the Wole Soyinka Railway Station in Abeokuta.

In a statement released on Thursday, by the state Publicity Secretary,  the PDP condemned what it described as the government’s habitual practice of shifting blame instead of taking decisive action.

The controversy erupted when the Ogun State government asserted that it required approval from federal authorities before embarking on any rehabilitation works on the roads adjacent to the Prof. Wole Soyinka railway station.

The PDP dismissed this claim as a feeble attempt to deflect accountability, asserting that the state government has a constitutional obligation to maintain all roads within its jurisdiction, regardless of their proximity to federal facilities.

“This shameless display of irresponsibility by the Ogun State Government is unacceptable,” declared Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole, Publicity Secretary of PDP Ogun State.

“It is a clear manifestation of the government’s lack of commitment to responsive governance and its penchant for evading accountability.”

Bankole highlighted the dire state of the roads surrounding the railway station, emphasizing the suffering endured by residents due to the government’s failure to address the infrastructure decay.

He lamented the administration’s apparent disinterest in fulfilling its promises to the people and criticized what he perceived as the governor’s absence from key governance responsibilities.

“It is completely heartbreaking to witness the government’s disregard for the plight of the people,” Bankole remarked.

“Residents have endured years of neglect and broken promises, while the government remains aloof and unresponsive to their needs.

“The PDP called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to abandon his alleged detachment from governance and take immediate action to rectify the situation.

Bankole demanded an apology from the governor to the people of Ogun State for the administration’s failures and urged swift measures to address the crumbling infrastructure around the Wole Soyinka Railway Station.

“Every government has a duty to prioritize the welfare and safety of its citizens,” Bankole asserted.

“It is time for Governor Abiodun to fulfill his obligations and demonstrate genuine concern for the wellbeing of the people of Ogun State.”
