President Bola Tinubu has vowed that the perpetrators behind the tragic killing of Nigerian Army personnel during a peace mission in Delta State will face justice.

In response to the incident, which claimed the lives of at least 16 soldiers, Tinubu expressed deep sorrow and determination to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

The soldiers, from the 181 Amphibious Battalion deployed in the Bomadi region, were on a peacekeeping mission in the Okuoma community when they were brutally attacked on Thursday, March 14.

Brigadier General Tukur Gusau confirmed the tragic loss in a statement, highlighting the devastating impact of the violence on the mission’s objective.

Upon learning of the heartbreaking loss, Tinubu personally signed a statement on Sunday, condemning the cowardly act and reassuring Nigerians of his commitment to justice.

He authorized the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Staff to take decisive action against anyone found guilty of perpetrating the crime.

“The cowardly offenders responsible for this heinous crime will not go unpunished,” Tinubu declared, emphasizing the need to uphold the sanctity of Nigerian lives and the sacrifices made by the armed forces in ensuring national security.

Acknowledging the sacrifices made by the fallen soldiers, Tinubu extended his condolences to their families, colleagues, and loved ones.

He emphasized the inherent dangers faced by Nigerian servicemen and women in the line of duty and called for national solidarity in honoring their memory.

In paying tribute to the fallen soldiers, Tinubu recognized their unwavering dedication to the nation and their ultimate sacrifice in the service of Nigeria.

He underscored the vital role played by the armed forces in safeguarding the nation’s unity and security, emphasizing that any attack on them is an attack on the nation itself.

As a beacon of hope and resilience, Tinubu affirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and tranquility across Nigeria.

He called upon all citizens to stand united in the face of adversity and to support efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the nation’s armed forces.

In concluding his statement, Tinubu invoked divine blessings upon the Federal Republic of Nigeria and prayed for the continued protection of its armed forces.

His resolute stance underscores the imperative of justice, unity, and security in preserving the nation’s integrity and prosperity.
