In a heart-wrenching incident, a nursing mother named Adijat lost her life in Iba Community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun state, at the hands of unknown assailants.
The tragedy unfolded as Adijat, a Fulani lady caring for her three-month-old baby, was shot while taking a bath on a fateful Tuesday night around 10 pm.
Following the attack, Adijat was swiftly transported to a private hospital in Iree community for medical attention. Tragically, her battle for survival ended on Thursday.
The Osun command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been actively engaged in the case.
Kehinde Adeleke, the NSCDC spokesperson, confirmed that while the incident occurred on Tuesday night, Adijat succumbed to her injuries two days later.
As the investigation continues, the identity of the culprits remains elusive. However, law enforcement agencies are diligently pursuing leads to bring those responsible to justice.
The community, still haunted by a similar incident from two years ago, anxiously awaits a resolution.
Residents like Wale are pleading for intensified efforts by security agencies to apprehend the suspects and restore a sense of security to their lives.
