Africa’s leading financial institution, United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), has successfully concluded its first-ever Graduate Management Accelerated Programme (GMAP), marking a significant step in grooming the next generation of African professionals.

Over 700 talented graduates, drawn from UBA’s 19 African subsidiaries, underwent an intensive six-month hands-on learning experience as part of this groundbreaking initiative.

The program, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, was designed to equip fresh graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary for rapid career advancement.

Throughout the program, participants rotated across various bank departments and units, combining theoretical learning with invaluable on-the-job training.

This immersive approach aimed to mold them into well-rounded professionals prepared for leadership and key roles within UBA.

Tony Elumelu, Chairman of UBA, emphasized the importance of nurturing human capital and applauded the program’s ability to produce bright and promising professionals poised to elevate the bank to new heights.

He expressed his vision of seeing future CEOs emerge from this initiative and noted the enthusiasm and energy displayed by the graduates.

Elumelu stated, “UBA is giving opportunities to young Africans, addressing unemployment on the continent. Employment of these large numbers of young people at this time explains the role our Bank is playing in engineering growth and development across Africa.”

Oliver Alawuba, Group Managing Director of UBA, commended the dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment exhibited by all GMAP participants.

He emphasized the pivotal role they would play in contributing the resources necessary for their success and the bank’s growth.

Alawuba stated, “In UBA, we give everyone an equal opportunity to achieve their dreams, irrespective of age, tribe, gender, and background.

The transformation of our dear continent, Africa, is very important to our vision. To achieve this mandate, we need believers, doers, and agents of transformation.”

UBA’s Graduate Management Accelerated Programme stands as a testament to the bank’s commitment to youth empowerment, professional development, and the continued growth of Africa’s financial sector.
