… Union Vows To Sustain Action Until FG Reverses Proposed Concession Of Unity Schools

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria has ordered the immediate closure of all Federal Unity Colleges across the country, directing students not to resume for the new academic session until furtheir notice.
The union also directed the closure of offices of the Federal Ministry of Education nationwide from Monday, September 14, 2026, escalating its opposition to the Federal Government’s proposed concession arrangements involving the unity schools.
The development could disrupt the commencement of academic activities in the affected schools as the union insists that the planned concession of the institutions must be reversed.
In a statement dated September 11, 2026, and signed by its Chairman, Comrade Samson Chigozie Ngadi, the ASCSN directed all unit chairmen in Federal Unity Colleges to ensure strict compliance with the shutdown order.
The union said the decision followed an earlier congress where members resolved to oppose the planned concession of the Federal Unity Colleges.
According to the association, the directive affects both the schools and offices of the Federal Ministry of Education and will remain in force until further notice.
The union warned that threats or intimidation would not make its members abandon their position on the proposed concession.
ASCSN specifically cautioned against what it described as attempts to intimidate its members, declaring that the action was a collective struggle aimed at protecting the interests of the affected institutions and workers.
The statement directed the unit chairmen to ensure that the order was fully implemented across the country.
The association further urged its members to remain committed to the directive, stressing that the industrial action would continue until its demands were addressed.
The latest confrontation comes amid growing disagreement between the senior civil servants’ union and the Federal Government over the proposed concession arrangements for Federal Unity Colleges.
The union’s action also puts pressure on the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, as ASCSN has made the reversal of the concession plan a major demand.
As of the time of filing this report, the Federal Ministry of Education had not issued a response to the latest shutdown directive.
