The former governor of Rivers State and a notable member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nyesom Wike, has been named as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the upcoming Bayelsa State governorship election.
This was revealed by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu in a statement on Tuesday.
However, at the time of filing this report, Wike has not yet announced any plans to leave his party, PDP.
According to the statement, Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Yahaya, will lead the council, while co-chair positions will be held by Minister of Defence Badaru Abubakar, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.
The composition of the campaign council was endorsed by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, following consultation with the National Working Committee, according to the statement.
The statement read, “the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, in consultation with the National Working Committee, has approved the composition of the Bayelsa State National Gubernatorial Campaign Council with the primary purpose of leading the gubernatorial campaign in Bayelsa state and ensuring the triumph of our great party at the November 11, 2023, governorship election.”
