Twelve schools across Ogun State have been selected to receive capital projects worth a total of N6 billion under the 2024 federal budget, with each school set to receive a new block of classrooms valued at N500 million.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that data obtained from Tracka, titled “Tracking 2024 FG Consolidated Capital Projects in Ogun,” aims to enhance educational infrastructure across several key regions in the state, including Abeokuta, Ijebu, Odogbolu, and Sagamu.
The selected schools include prominent institutions such as St. Peter’s College (Junior) in Olomore, Abeokuta Grammar School (Junior) in Idi-Aba, and Methodist High School (Junior) in Arigbajo, each earmarked to receive N500 million for classroom construction.
The proposed budget allocation also includes significant projects for other schools. Salau Abiola Comprehensive High School (Junior) in Osiele, Ijebu-Ife Community Grammar School in Ijebu-Ife, and Molusi College (Junior) in Ijebu-Igbo are among those included.
Other beneficiaries are Remo Secondary School, Odogbolu Grammar School (Junior) in Odogbolu, Christ Apostolic Grammar School (Junior) in Iperu, and Ikenne Community High School (Junior) in Ikenne.
These projects are part of the government’s Education Revitalization initiative, which seeks to address overcrowding and inadequate facilities in public secondary schools across Nigeria.
According to the report, the projects are funded under the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) with codes ranging from ERGP20245693 to ERGP20245702.
PLATFORM TIMES also observed that the projects are managed by the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Lagos, as part of an extended partnership focusing on educational and infrastructural development.
However, PLATFORM TIMES could not confirm whether the projects have been executed, as the 2024 fiscal year is almost over.
