The former First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Martha Udom-Emmanuel, has called on women to actively contribute to nation-building by playing pivotal roles in their families and communities.
She made this charge at the grand finale of the Annual Women Convention organized by Victory Women International (VWI), held at the Life Cathedral of Victory Life Bible Church International, Abeokuta.
Speaking on the theme “The Woman and the Well”, Dr. Udom-Emmanuel highlighted the indispensable role of women in fostering growth and stability in society.
She urged women to distinguish themselves in their workplaces and other areas of life, irrespective of their positions, while emphasizing the need for unwavering faith in God for guidance and success.
“Women must take responsibility for shaping their families and the nation,” she said, stressing the importance of all-round development—spiritual, mental, psychological, and social—within the family structure.
On parenting, the former First Lady reminded mothers and fathers of their critical role in molding the future of their children.
She noted that the values instilled in children today will determine their contribution to society tomorrow.
The Setman of Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, also paid tribute to his late wife, Reverend Fola Achudume, lauding her as a diligent, compassionate, and visionary leader.
He further expressed gratitude for the support of individuals like Dr. Udom-Emmanuel, who have stood by the church and its initiatives over the years.
The event’s highlight was the presentation of financial support to women in business and educational aid to students in primary and secondary schools.
This initiative, introduced by the late Reverend Fola Achudume, remains a cornerstone of the Annual Women Convention, empowering women and advancing education.
Dr. Udom-Emmanuel also fulfilled a promise she made during last year’s convention by contributing to the empowerment project, reaffirming her commitment to fostering growth and development among women and children.
The Annual Women Convention has continued to inspire and uplift women, driving the message that their contributions are vital to the progress of families, communities, and the nation.
