The Sultan of Sokoto and spiritual leader of Nigerian Muslims, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Islamic scholar and preacher, Shaikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello.

Shaikh Bello, who served as the Kano State Branch Missioner of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria for many years, passed away on the morning of Friday, December 6, 2024. He was buried the same day in his hometown of Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, December 8, by the Sultan’s media team, Alhaji Abubakar described the late cleric as a preacher of good conscience and exemplary character.

He noted that Shaikh Bello’s death was a significant loss to the Muslim Ummah, particularly in South-West Nigeria and the Oyo State Muslim community.

“Although his passing came as a shock, especially at a time when his style of Islamic preaching is needed for moral reconstruction and spiritual guidance, we accept his demise as the will of Allah,” the Sultan said.

He prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for the late scholar and for his soul to find eternal peace in Al-Jannah Firdaus.

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds as acts of worship, and grant him eternal rest in paradise. Ameen,” the Sultan concluded.

Shaikh Muhydeen Bello was widely regarded for his impactful sermons and dedication to Islamic propagation. His death has left a void in the Muslim community across Nigeria.
