Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has debunked rumours of his death, describing the reports circulating on social media as “false” and “misleading.”
The clarification came in a statement issued by his spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, on Friday. Igboho stated that he is alive, well, and spending time with his family, contrary to claims that he had passed away in an undisclosed hospital.
The rumour, which gained traction after being shared on the Seyi Tinubu Youth Battalion Facebook page, alleged that details of Igboho’s purported death would soon be disclosed.
However, Koiki dismissed the claims as baseless and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of the Yoruba freedom fighter.
“We want to assure the general public and supporters of the Yoruba Nation movement that Dr. Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho is alive, well, and in high spirits,” Koiki said.
“There is no truth to the rumours being spread by certain individuals and groups trying to mislead the public. This is a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image and derail the ongoing self-determination struggle.”
Koiki further emphasized that Igboho has neither suffered any illness nor been hospitalized.
He urged the public to disregard the false information and cautioned against the spread of unverified news, which he described as a malicious tactic aimed at creating confusion and undermining the Yoruba Nation movement.
“Let it be known that our mission for the self-determination of the Yoruba people remains strong and unshaken. We call on our supporters to remain vigilant and focused on our collective goal,” Koiki added.
The statement concluded with a call for caution, urging members of the public to verify facts before disseminating sensitive information. It also reiterated the importance of relying solely on official communication channels for updates concerning Sunday Igboho and the Yoruba Nation movement.
