The League of Imams and Alfas in Ogun State has called on Muslims across the country to use the Eid el-Adha celebration as a moment for deep reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to national unity, peace, and progress.

In a statement signed by the Secretary General of the League, Alhaji Tajudeen Mustapha Adewunmi, on behalf of the President General, Shaykh Sikirullahi Babalola, and the zonal Grand Chief Imams, the religious body congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Ogun State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid el-Adha, describing it as a sacred period that embodies the spirit of devotion, obedience, humility, and compassion.

“Eid el-Adha is not merely a festive period; it is a spiritual journey that calls us to renew our commitment to Allah and to humanity,” the statement read in part.

The League urged Muslims to intensify prayers for peace, security, and divine guidance for the nation’s leaders, adding that sincere supplications during the holy period can serve as a powerful catalyst for national transformation.

The clerics also called on Nigerians to remember the less privileged by sharing their blessings and showing compassion, stressing that the act of sacrifice should inspire collective responsibility to uplift the needy and promote social harmony.

Furthermore, the group appealed to governments at all levels to recommit to the welfare of the people, especially in addressing security challenges and implementing policies that will reduce poverty, improve infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life for the average Nigerian.

“Governance must be people-centered, proactive, and compassionate, especially at a time when many citizens are grappling with hardship,” the statement added.

As Muslims around the world mark the Eid and perform the sacrificial rites, the League also advised celebrants to observe hygiene, moderation, and adhere to both Islamic injunctions and public health standards.

While praying for the safe return of pilgrims from Hajj, the League expressed hopes for continued peace, security, and development in Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.

“May this Eid bring immense joy, strengthen our faith, and uplift every heart and household,” the statement concluded.
