Dangote Deploys 4,000 CNG Tankers to Begin PMS, Diesel Supply Nationwide August 15

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the deployment of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers for the nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel, beginning August 15, 2025.

The initiative, described as a game-changer by industry observers, will enable the refinery to supply fuel directly to petrol stations, manufacturers, telecommunications firms, aviation companies, and other large-scale users across the country—with free logistics support.

In a statement issued on Sunday and made available to PLATFORM TIMES , the company said the initiative would cut out traditional logistics costs, reduce energy expenses, and promote cleaner fuel usage.

It also aligns with the Federal Government’s push for alternative energy sources under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This marks a major milestone in our drive to make fuel more accessible, reduce distribution bottlenecks, and stimulate economic growth,” the statement read.

The 4,000 newly-acquired CNG tankers, supported by over 100 daughter booster stations, will form the backbone of a nationwide supply chain aimed at ensuring consistent availability of refined products, particularly in underserved and rural communities.

Also included in the initiative is a credit facility for major buyers. Petrol stations or firms that purchase a minimum of 500,000 litres will be eligible for an additional 500,000 litres on a two-week credit, backed by a bank guarantee.

Stakeholders say the new model is expected to bring relief to consumers and businesses hit hard by fluctuating fuel prices and erratic distribution patterns.

By cutting out middlemen and guaranteeing direct supply, the refinery hopes to ease inflationary pressures and support struggling small and medium-sized enterprises.

“This development is not only about business efficiency but also about national development,” the company said. “We are revitalising dormant petrol stations, creating jobs, boosting government revenue, and supporting the wider economy.”

The refinery has urged marketers, petrol dealers, and corporate consumers to register between June 16 and August 15, 2025, through its Know Your Customer (KYC) process. Enquiries can be directed to designated phone lines or via email at sales.enquiry@dangote.com.

This latest intervention by the Dangote Group is being hailed as a critical step toward energy reform, sustainability, and economic inclusion in Nigeria.
