A Nigerian-born, Glasgow-based music composer and performer, Adekanle Taiwo Emmanuel, popularly known as Emars, is steadily carving a niche in the global music scene with his experimental and genre-defying sound.
Emars, who began his musical journey as a child chorister, has grown into a prodigious songwriter and improviser, blending traditional African rhythms with ambient electronics, jazz infusions, and contemporary soundscapes. His style, critics say, is difficult to box into any conventional category.
“What makes Emars fascinating is that you cannot place a finger on his exact genre. He fuses multiple elements into a sound that evolves before your ears.
“His performances are less about repetition and more about creation in the moment,” a fan familiar with his stage craft told PLATFORM TIMES.
Unlike many mainstream acts defined by a particular genre, Emars thrives on spontaneity and improvisation.
His live performances, often centered on themes of faith, love, and hope, have been described as soulful, spiritual, and deeply personal—akin to listening to a sage or monk singing with heartfelt conviction.
Despite his rising international profile, the artist has yet to release a major body of recorded work.
However, Emars has announced plans to drop his first extended play (EP) in March 2026, a project many anticipate will finally translate his live magic into a permanent recording.
Music enthusiasts are now asking whether an artist without allegiance to a specific genre can break into mainstream recognition and win awards in an industry that thrives on categorization.
For Emars, however, the journey appears to be more about creating timeless experiences than fitting into industry boxes. “His music is a process of evolution in real time. That’s what makes him special,” another follower observed.
As anticipation builds for his forthcoming EP, the world waits to see just how far Emars’ unconventional artistry will take him.
