…Scores Of Insurgents, Bandits Killed In Coordinated Operations Across North-East, North-West
The Nigerian Air Force has recorded major victories against terrorists in Borno and Katsina States after precision airstrikes halted an attempted ISWAP attack on Chibok and flattened multiple bandit enclaves in the North-West.
NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Edjodame, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the two-day counterterrorism operations were executed under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) and Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), following an upsurge in intelligence on planned terrorist movements.
According to him, air interdictions guided by real-time surveillance neutralised scores of ISWAP fighters and destroyed critical operational infrastructure belonging to terrorist cells across the regions.
Edjodame said ISWAP militants launched a coordinated multi-directional assault on Chibok, Borno State, but were swiftly overwhelmed by ground troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, supported by four decisive airstrikes from NAF aircraft.
He noted that the insurgents, who attempted to escape after their attack plan collapsed, were tracked along their withdrawal routes and hit with additional precision munitions.
“The synchronised air–ground response inflicted significant losses on the terrorists, disrupted their retreat and destroyed their ability to reorganise,” he said.
Residents of Chibok, who recently witnessed increased movements of ISWAP fighters, were said to have been safeguarded by the timely air support.
In Katsina State, the Air Force also carried out two major strikes on November 27 under OPFY Sector 2.
The first attack, conducted around 6.30am, targeted a fortified hideout of a notorious terrorist leader responsible for serial kidnappings and violent raids across Kankara, Faskari and Malumfashi Local Government Areas.
“Guided by ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance), precision munitions destroyed the entire camp,” Edjodame stated.
A second strike at about 5.55pm hit another major terrorist enclave in Danfako, Faskari LGA, destroying logistics hubs, operational assets and structures used to coordinate attacks in the region.
Several fleeing fighters were confirmed neutralised.

Edjodame said the latest operations further demonstrate the Air Force’s resolve to conduct “surgical, intelligence-driven strikes aimed at neutralising threats and restoring security for citizens.”
He added that NAF would sustain close collaboration with ground forces and other security agencies until normalcy is restored across the country.
The North-East has witnessed renewed ISWAP activity in recent months, while banditry continues to plague several communities in the North-West. Security experts say the latest operations show an improvement in inter-agency intelligence sharing.
