The Presidency has firmly dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu has replaced the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, describing the reports as false and misleading.
The rebuttal followed the circulation of social media posts alleging that the President had effected a change in the leadership of his inner circle, with the claims attributed to unnamed “insider sources.”
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, categorically denied the reports, insisting that no such reshuffle had taken place.
Onanuga stated that Gbajabiamila remains firmly in office as Chief of Staff, while Muri-Okunola continues to function in his capacity as Principal Private Secretary to the President.
“The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to a viral falsehood suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with his Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola,” the statement read.
“There is absolutely no truth to this claim. The Chief of Staff remains in his position, and the Principal Private Secretary also remains in his role. Nigerians are advised to completely disregard the report.”
The Presidency further described the claim as a deliberate fabrication by purveyors of fake news bent on sowing discord within the government and misleading the public.
Onanuga cautioned media organisations and social media users against amplifying unverified information, stressing the need for responsible journalism and due diligence in the dissemination of sensitive political information.
He added that the Tinubu administration remains focused on governance and service delivery, warning that false narratives could undermine public trust and national stability.
