A faction of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s supporters has formally proposed a joint presidential ticket pairing former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, with the ex-Kano governor for the 2027 general elections.
The Kwankwaso Support Group 2027, led by Abba Gwale, said the proposed alliance is aimed at rescuing the country from insecurity, hunger, and economic hardship.
Speaking on Friday in Kano, Gwale urged Nigerians to back the Obi-Kwankwaso partnership, describing it as a “historic opportunity to deliver meaningful change.”
“As loyalists of Senator Kwankwaso, we have thrown our weight behind this ticket. The current political trajectory shows where the tide is shifting,” Gwale said.
“If this duo gets a mandate, Nigeria will be a better place. We are tired of insecurity, hunger, and starvation.”
Gwale noted that the alliance is designed to combine Obi’s strong support base in the South with Kwankwaso’s influence in the North, creating a powerful coalition capable of challenging the ruling party.
“At the heart of this alliance is a shared ambition to wrestle power from the APC and implement policies that benefit ordinary Nigerians,” he added.
Addressing allegations that Kwankwaso had demanded a large number of positions from the ruling party as a condition for joining, Gwale described such claims as “outrageous,” emphasizing that the former governor’s demands are aimed at serving supporters across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Gwale further highlighted that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket is gaining traction amid widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration.
“Their message of hope and change resonates with many Nigerians. One thing is certain they are determined to bring a new era of politics to the country,” he said.
