Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Prof. Mike Ozekhome, has visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo, even as he faces criminal charges filed by the Federal Government over an alleged forgery linked to a disputed property in the United Kingdom.
.
Ozekhome shared photographs of the visit on his verified (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday night, showing him in a relaxed moment with the former President.
In the pictures, Obasanjo was dressed in a blue traditional attire with a matching cap, while Ozekhome appeared in a cream-coloured native outfit.
Captioning the post, the senior lawyer wrote, “Prof Mike Ozekhome, SAN, CON, OFR, cooling off with former president Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, PhD, tonight. God is awesome indeed.”
The visit comes amid an ongoing legal battle between Ozekhome and the Federal Government, which recently instituted criminal proceedings against him over an alleged forgery said to be connected to a property dispute in London.
Details of the charges have yet to be fully disclosed to the public, but the case has generated significant attention within legal and political circles, given Ozekhome’s status as a prominent constitutional lawyer and public affairs commentator.
Neither Ozekhome nor representatives of the former President made any public statement regarding the purpose of the visit. It also remains unclear whether their meeting was connected to the pending charges.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation from relevant government agencies on the status of the case were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Ozekhome, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and rights activist, has been involved in several high-profile cases and has frequently spoken on issues bordering on governance, rule of law and constitutional democracy.
The development is expected to fuel further public discourse as proceedings in the alleged forgery case unfold.
