A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Hon. Odulana Adetayo Ajirotutu, has congratulated Muslims and Christians on the commencement of the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent, urging them to use the periods for prayers and reflection on the nation’s unity and development.
In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday, Odulana described the twin religious observances as significant moments for spiritual rebirth, self-discipline and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence.
He said both Ramadan and Lent embody the virtues of sacrifice, patience, humility and love for humanity, stressing that such values are critical to building a just and harmonious society.
According to him, the seasons provide adherents of both faiths an opportunity to deepen their faith and demonstrate compassion, especially towards the less privileged.
“Ramadan and Lent teach the values of selflessness, compassion and total submission to the will of God. This is a period to strengthen our faith and pray earnestly for peace, unity and progress in Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole,” he stated.
The PDP stalwart called on Muslims and Christians to observe the fasting periods with sincerity, tolerance and mutual respect, irrespective of religious differences.
He further urged residents of the state to remain law-abiding and committed to community development, noting that unity and collective prayers remain essential to achieving lasting peace and sustainable growth.
Odulana added that the current socio-economic challenges facing the country required citizens to draw strength from their faith and work together in the interest of national cohesion and prosperity.
