The Ogun State chapter of Omoluabi Progressives has begun preparations for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Project, directing its leaders and grassroots coordinators across the state’s 20 local government areas to intensify mobilisation ahead of a scheduled political engagement on November 12, 2026.
The movement’s State Chairman, Onigbinde Gafar, gave the directive in a communiqué issued on Saturday, following a stakeholders’ meeting convened to deliberate on the group’s organisational readiness and mobilisation strategy.
The communiqué was signed by Gafar in his capacity as State Chairman of Omoluabi Progressives, Ogun State Chapter.
Gafar said the forthcoming engagement would provide an opportunity for the political movement to demonstrate its grassroots strength, organisational capacity and relevance in the political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged leaders, coordinators and members across the state to take personal responsibility for mobilising supporters within their respective wards, local governments and political constituencies.
According to him, the success of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Project would depend largely on effective grassroots structures, coordinated participation and the commitment of members rather than political declarations by leaders.
The chairman stressed that mobilisation must be deliberate, inclusive and result-oriented, warning that every stakeholder had a responsibility to ensure that the movement’s structures were fully activated ahead of the November 12 engagement.
He specifically tasked the state executives with providing leadership, coordination and supervision, while local government coordinators were directed to mobilise stakeholders and activate their respective political structures.
Ward coordinators were also urged to take the mobilisation exercise to the grassroots by engaging members and supporters, while youth and community leaders were encouraged to broaden participation across their respective communities.
Gafar further called on all members and stakeholders to demonstrate discipline, unity and commitment, noting that the assignment required more than verbal expressions of support.
He said the movement could only achieve its political objectives if its members were prepared to make sacrifices, work collectively and set aside personal interests capable of undermining its organisational strength.
The chairman warned against internal disagreements, rivalry and political complacency, urging members to consolidate their structures and strengthen relationships ahead of the forthcoming political activities.
He said, “This is not the time for division, internal rivalry or political complacency. It is a time to consolidate our structures, strengthen our relationships and demonstrate that Omoluabi Progressives remains a purposeful and organised political platform.”
Gafar added that members’ conduct during the mobilisation and the November 12 engagement should reflect the group’s professed values of integrity, respect, discipline and responsibility.
He described the forthcoming programme as an important political assignment, urging stakeholders to move beyond consultations to effective coordination and grassroots participation.
The chairman maintained that the movement’s political relevance would depend on its ability to sustain a strong grassroots presence and translate its political convictions into organised collective action.
He expressed confidence in the cooperation of stakeholders and grassroots leaders across Ogun State, urging them to work together towards the success of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Project.
