A Non-governmental organization, Step Up Nigeria has announced launch a film ‘Tosin’s Story’, on the occasion of the 2023 World Press Freedom Day, May 3, 2023.
Step up Nigeria is building bridges for improved governance to tackle corruption and improve service delivery and ensure that Nigeria’s socioeconomic development is not held back by corruption and poor governance
They have been leading the fight against corruption through storybooks animations, movies, and voter campaigns.
According to a statement signed by the Communications Associate, Vanessa Emeadi, the film is adapted from the third anticorruption storybook written by author and anti-corruption expert, Onyinye Ough.
“It teaches children aged 9 to 14 how corruption undermines the coverage of important issues. It also shows how investigative journalists with integrity and courage can make a difference. It aims to encourage young people to turn away from a culture of ‘brown envelopes’, and be willing to speak out to make a difference,” she said.
Giving a little synopsis of the movie, Emeadi said, “Tosin is a young journalist determined to write about issues that affect the poor. When a nearby building collapses, killing many residents, Tosin is determined to uncover the truth. Can she expose the corruption and cover up before more buildings collapse? Find out!”
The 21 minute animated film is now available for viewing on Pineapple TV’s YouTube channel, @pineappletvng.
