A 41-year-old man, Nnamdi Dike has been remanded in police custody for allegedly defiling his lover’s 12-year-old daughter.
The incident took place in November 2022 at a residence on Shogbade Street in the Power Line area of Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos.
Dike, a security guard residing at 27 Salami Street in Akute, Ogun State, is now facing charges of sexual assault.
Chief Magistrate Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi refused to hear the defendant’s plea and instead ordered his remand in the Kirikiri Correctional Center.
Osunsanmi revealed that the defendant remand will continue until the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) provides legal advice on the case.
The proceedings were adjourned until June 26.
According to the prosecution led by ASP Raji Akeem, the 12-year-old victim disclosed to her teacher the alleged sexual abuse by the defendant, who is her mother’s lover.
Akeem added that the Dike would assault the young girl whenever her mother was absent from the residence and would threaten her with harm if she dared to disclose the incidents to anyone.
Akeem said the teacher informed the victim’s mother, who reported the case at the police station.
