No fewer than 15 persons have been reportedly burnt to death in a fresh attack in Bwai and Chisu communities of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered on Tuesday, that the attackers stormed the communities when the residents had gone to bed, set ablazed some houses.
An eye witness, Bamshak Ishaya said the COCIN RCC Church in Bwai, which is along the Mangu-Bokkos road, was also bu NJ MMrned downtown with other houses, vehicles and tricycles.
Residents in Chisu community heard sporadic gunshots and ran to the residence of their community leader, which was also burnt.
Eleven bodies were said to have been picked up on Tuesday morning while the search was still ongoing.
The Interim Management Committee Chairman of Mangu LGA, Mr. Markus Artu, told newsmen on the phone that the incident happened but he had no details yet.
He said, “I am gathering the pieces, I am going on an on-the-spot assessment of the situation, we have conflicting reports coming. The security agencies said there was an attempt to attack but it was repelled but again some other people are telling stories.
“I heard that they attempted to burn the Church but it was repelled, I don’t have the facts, whatever I heard is speculative as soon as I have them, I will let you know.”
The member representing Mangu South Constituency in Plateau Assembly, Bala Fwangje also confirmed the incident.
He said: “Around 11 pm, we had a call that herdsmen came into Chisu and Bwai, this morning we heard that about 15 people were killed, houses destroyed, property burnt. I am yet to get the full details.”
However, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo was unable to reach.

Sunday Igboho, a prominent figure in the Yoruba nation movement, has expressed his determination to return to Nigeria and resume his advocacy effort.
It was gathered that Igboho claimed that the Nigerian government, having absolved him of all charges in court, would compensate him with a sum of N20 billion.
In a viral video on Wednesday Igboho assured his supporters that he would soon be back in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He confidently stated that there was no need for fear among the Yoruba people, emphasizing that no external force could intimidate them.
“I am returning to Ibadan, my hometown in Oyo State. Yorubas should not be afraid because nothing untoward will occur; no one can instill fear in one another,” declared Igboho.
He went on to highlight that his demands, which he had previously presented to the Nigerian government, had been vindicated by the court’s decision.
Furthermore, Igboho insisted that the owed N20 billion would soon be settled by the Nigerian government.
“The question I asked the Nigerian Government was in place, and the court has justified my demands.
“Also, the N20 billion Nigerian Government owes me will be paid.”
It should be noted that Igboho fled to Cotonou in the Benin Republic in 2021 after the Department of State Services (DSS) launched a manhunt for him.
The search was initiated following the discovery of weapons in his residence in Ibadan, which had been raided by DSS operatives at that time
